The Transformation of Pleinlaan in Ixelles has begun

On 17 June 2025, we laid the symbolic first stone of a remarkable redevelopment project. Before long, this site will become a vibrant hub for education, sports, culture, and community life, right in the heart of the city.

The 13,400 m² site will accommodate:

• Two secondary schools for 1,150 students
• 2,000 m² of sports infrastructure
• A 375 m² theatre hall
• 7,000 m² of outdoor space
• Shared facilities for local organisations

The existing structure will largely be preserved. This approach limits environmental impact and gives the building a new societal role.

This project is made possible through a public-private partnership with the Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie (VGC).
