World Climate Day: Befimmo commits itself to the fight against climate change
Today is World Climate Day. Aware of its impact and the urgency to act, Befimmo has been committed to fighting global warming for several years now. With this in mind, Befimmo joined the Belgian Alliance for Climate Action in October 2020.

Year after year, Befimmo works to reduce its ecological footprint. This is why it is proud to have obtained a CDP score of “A – Leadership” for the year 2020. From a "C - Awareness" score in 2019 to an "A - Leadership" in 2020, this recognition demonstrates the effect of the strategy implemented by Befimmo. Indeed, the company has set itself ecological objectives in several strategic areas:
- Befimmo has set targets for reducing its COe2 emissions in line with the Paris agreements, based on the methodology proposed by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), thus contributing to limiting the rise in the global average temperature to below 2°C. Long-term objectives have been defined taking into account the prospects for renovations, improvements and/or sales of assets in the portfolio.
- Befimmo pays particular attention to circularity according to what Befimmo has called the 4R approach: REUSE: maximum reuse of materials on site or on other projects. REVIVE: improvement of the existing structure and its environment. RECYCLE: when it is not possible to reuse, transform to ensure other applications. RETHINK: ecological design and use of environmentally friendly materials.
- Befimmo, as the responsible owner of a large portfolio, pays special attention in each of the projects it develops to the integration of water recovery systems, leak detection and the implementation of low consumption appliances.
